Word up!
This past weekend I participated in the first annual "Mie Ken/Habitat for Humanity Pub Quiz Night." Held at everyones favorite Japexican restaurant, Uncle Steven's, the pub quiz combined everyone's favorite things, beer, beer, cheese, salsa, beer, matching T-shirts, fabulous prizes and trivia...and beer (Dos Equis in the green bottle even!). My team was aptly called "The Let's Enjoys" yes yes, as in "let's enjoy drinking mexican beer out of the bottle" or "let's enjoy wearing cheeky matching T-shirts and giving everyone the idea that we actually knew what we were doing" and of course, as we later discovered "let's enjoy thinking we know the answer to most of the questions but coming in dead last out of 11 teams." But damn we looked good. Eric, the team fashion consultant, made our fabulous team uniforms on his day off. They had a slight retro bowling alley feel to them. They were fashion forward while still holding onto a bit of nostalgia. They were ecclectic and progressive all in one. They were yellow, they were Hanes, they were...hot!
Sabrina was definetly the brains of the team, effortlessly supplying us with answers to such questions as "what is the opposite of Zenith"...(for all of those you don't know, it's Nadir), while Nicki supplied us with moral support, expert secretarial skills and cheer. I was the team beer guzzler and answered the question that no one else could "what is the only country with a birth rate of absolutely zero?" ....and the answer is...The Vatican of course. Yes, thank you thank you.
Although we came in dead last I was lucky enough to win the grand prize in the raffle and now am the proud owner of an full apartement cleaning by team "Three Men and a Baldy" A.K.A Stuart Daun, Neil Busby, Hayden Hughes and Sam (whose last name I don't know yet). The best part is that they have to do it in their underwear!!! Yes yes ladies, we are going to make it a full on event. Stay tuned for future information. Bums will the smacked, floors will be washed and of course beers will be guzzled. There's a silver linning at the end of every quiz night....
Ok, I'm outtie
Gotta go make my apartement REALLY dirty!
Cheers
Joe
