I was lucky enough to be in town for the three days that my old friend Eriko was also in Vancouver. I use to work at the English Language Institute when she was student there before I went to Japan. We never managed to hook up in J-town but managed to re-connect back in Van city. She brought along another Japanese friend who seemed more freaked out by the gaggle of Spanish speaking globetrotters than anything but she kept her Japanese smile regardless.
